Contests

The Stage is set. On Saturday March 20, 2010, Round Table Pizza, 888 Alamo Dr, Vacaville, will host our 2nd Annual LightWriters photography contest. The contest rules are a modified version from the various area Local Fairs. Information on catorgories and how to enter may be updated at a later date so keep checking for updates. Entry is only open to Lightwriter members, but viewing is open to the public. All of the judge’s decisions are final.

ENTRY FEE: $2.00 per entry for preferred members/$3.00 for standard members (Preferred members are those who have submitted a survey)

LIMIT: One entry per class per exhibitor (exception-exhibitors may enter 2 photos in Odds and Ends)

SPECIAL RULES & INFORMATION

1. Only LightWriters Club Members are eligible to enter contest.

2. Exhibit must be created by exhibitor and taken between January 1, 2009 & Friday March 5, 2010.

3. Exhibits must not have been shown in any previous competition or contest.

4. ALL WORK MUST BE LABELED ON THE BACK WITH
NAME, ADDRESS, DIVISION #, CLASS # AND TITLE.  IF
WORK IS NOT LABELED, IT WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

5. Photos must be 8 "x 10”, total size, including matte, not to exceed 11"x 14". NO FRAMES OR HANGING DEVICE. Thickness of exhibit cannot exceed 1/4 inch. If using Fomee-cor beware that it may exceed the 1/4 inch limit.

6. Only the following alterations may be made to photos:
Brightness, Contrast, Cropping, Sizing, Sharpening, Converting only to Black and White or Sepia, and processing RAW photos.

You may not alter the photograph by adding or distorting the original content of the photograph.

7. Odds and Ends is any photograph that does not fit into classes 1 thru 5, and may contain any/all alterations or photographic styles, such as HDR, Digital Art, or photos where content was erased or altered from the original composition.

8. Suggested mat board sizes with photos are as follows:

Photo size: 8" x 10" with mat border size: 1 1/2" to 3"

9. If the number of entries exceeds available display space,
entries not receiving a 1st, 2nd or 3rd placement may not be displayed during or after the contest.

10. All photographs must be acceptable for "family friendly" viewing. If a photograph is deemed not "family friendly" it will be disqualified and it will not be displayed or judged.
